Some pictures from the drive to the part of Escalante where the slot canyons are. This is a huge nature preserve. The locals don't like it much. The bumper stickers on the truck read "Wilderness: Land of No Use" and "Hungry? Out of Work? Eat an Environmentalist!" No joke, the locals talk like that too. Supposedly there is a plan to remove protected status from some of this land and turn it into a gigantic strip mine!
