On the way to our last camp and hike destination, we stop in Stovepipe Wells. This isn't a historic
mining town. It was started as, and still is, a tourist resort. Importantly for us, it has
expensive gasoline, reasonably priced ice cream, and showers (actually as much access to the pool / changeroom /
shower area of the motel as you want, for $2 a head). Lorraine also made use of an internet kiosk that
was there. Being freshly showered after two nights at Mesquite Springs campground felt great.
After spending quite a lot of time here, we hit the road into the Panamint Mountains, stopping
to admire the scenery. Telescope Peak is the sharp summit on the right. Did I mention we are hiking
it tomorrow?
