It was decided to rent a van just to get away from the airport and eat dinner down here. I was unhappy about the expense and still grumbling when we ended up in a tourist trap parking garage ($6/hour) and faced wasting the precious 2 hours we could allow ourselves in a sitdown restaurant.
My mood improved when I got Andrew, Jody, Bob and PeterG together to do a fast walk of some of the sights of that part of town. Andrew and I had been here before, and knew what we could show the others (who hadn't) in an hour and a half. And so we saw the Coitt tower, some steep streets, cable car lines, Lombard Street, Russian Hill, the Hyde Street cable car turning, and some more of the waterfront, and still arrived back at the van 11 minutes before our "drop dead must-leave time".
And it was my favourite time of day for photography too. I don't even want to break up this block of pictures with commentary.
